John was in the British Army for 33 years serving in Northern Ireland, Canada, Cyprus, Germany, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan as well as mainland UK, with all but five years in front-line operational units. He held Senior Logistics Officer positions and Command appointments across many operational environments.
2013, upon leaving the military, John worked in senior roles within the charity sector across the North-West with his most recent role as General Manager of Veterans into Logistics.
In January 2025, John was lured back to service to take on the prestigious role as Regimental Secretary of the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment as its’ Lieutenant Colonel.
However, keen to retain close links with Veterans into Logistics, John became an Ambassador; he knows that veterans are diligent, professional and ‘get things done’. He is also acutely aware that many veterans are ideally suited to new careers in the logistics sector and remains passionate about supporting vulnerable veteran cohorts into sustainable employment once they finish their careers serving their country.
